Hi there,
2025 has been an immense year for us.
We tripled our registered user count, shipped a ton of features our users genuinely love, onboarded large student communities across Nigeria and other parts of Africa, and—perhaps most importantly—learned many invaluable lessons along the way.
Above all else, the single most meaningful achievement of 2025 was truly building a community.
It's one thing to run a content platform where people can write, share audio, engage in conversations, and meet new people. You can have all of that and still miss the deeper sense of belonging.
Community is when people feel close to one another even if they've never met. When they connect not just because of shared interests, but because of a shared mission and a collective sense of purpose—the belief that they are all here for the same reason: to drive Africa and Africans forward through ideas, opinions, stories, and lived experiences.
If we had to sum up 2025 in a single phrase, it would be:
“The Year of Community.”
And we are deeply grateful to everyone who made it possible.
One of the most defining developments for TwoCents in 2025 was the massive adoption of the platform by Gen Z.
We onboarded thousands of students and numerous student communities across Nigeria and other African countries—and we learned a lot. A whole lot.
TwoCents would not be the product or community it is today without the invaluable lessons we picked up from the incredible Gen Z contributors on the platform.
What stood out most was just how much Gen Z has to say—on everything from career, school, and family, to relatonships, politics, love, and identity. The idea that Gen Z is aloof or apathetic turned out to be a myth. Instead, they've shown themselves to be deeply engaged, highly opinionated, and eager to participate in meaningful conversations.
Cheers to every Gen Z voice that joined and shaped TwoCents in 2025.

We're also proud of how sticky TwoCents has become for the thousands of people who use and love it.
For a product and community that isn't a traditional social network, our engagement and retention metrics—daily, weekly, and monthly active users, as well as sessions per day—have been genuinely encouraging.
This is a testament to the effort we've put into deeply understanding our users, listening to feedback, and continuously delivering a thoughtful and delightful experience on TwoCents.
At the beginning of the year, we made a commitment to keep improving every aspect of TwoCents—from user experience and content quality, to community health and monetization opportunities.
It wasn't easy. But we dug deep, stayed focused, and delivered on many of the promises we made at the start of the year.
That said, this wasn't a perfect run—far from it. There are still many areas where we can and will do better, and we're looking forward to checking even more boxes in 2026.
If 2025 was an incredible year, 2026 will be even better.
Here's a glimpse of what we're excited about:
- Continued growth and an even stronger community
- Native apps you can download from app stores
- AI-powered features to make everything smoother and easier
- More Africans from outside Nigeria, joining from across the world
