What is your advice for people who are suffering from sensitive teeth?

Visit the dentist to be sure of the cause of sensitivity.

If it comes from an already existing carious lesion, it needs to be cleaned and sealed

If it comes from say poor mineralisation, you may be preecribed a topical fluoride done at chairside or in specific pastes help furhter harden the enamel structure

What is apheresis?

Let me set the stage for you here.

Blood has several components. And when a transfusion is needed, most at times it is just one component that is needed. To arrive at this, the blood needs to be separated into its various components and just what is needed is extracted for the recipients, while the rest of th3 blood is sent back to the donor.

The process that arrives at this result is what is called apharesis

Most of the time, a root canal is a relatively simple procedure with little or no discomfort involving one to three visits. Why do some dental surgeons make it very long, up to 9-10 visits?

Again, you said well, most of the time. Which means in the other cases that have distinctives, they may need many more sessions. Let's be reminded that average values mislead us to think everyone is the same. But médical and dental care focuses on personalised care, and because esch individual differs from the next, the physician adapts the care to that specific individual with his or her own distinctive variations and complications.

Otherwise there could even be single appointment visits for root canals

What's done to a baby's teeth that didn't appear at it's normal time?

Hello and thank you for the question. First proper investigations need to be done. It could be that the child will have just a delay in eruptions or it could be that there is just no bud that will erupt.

The underlying problem could be that this is just a sign of a deeper problem which also needs to be investigated with the help of other specialists.

Only from then can a protocol for management be set up.

We should strive to see that we are treating a human being and not a tooth, so look at the issues with the tooth as an issue with a human being, which could be simply only at tooth level or symbolic of a an underlying systemic ailment

What should I do after donating blood?

Immediately, you have to take in fluids, rest and avoid streinous exercises or activities.

As days go by, feed properly to replenish iron and vitamin sources necessary to get you4 blood levels topped up. Green veggies, eggs, milk, fish and let's just say a balanced diet.

Decide to be a voluntary donor, and so practice a healthy lifestyle and regularly meet your transfuison medicine specialist for counesel on further donations

Who can donate blood?

In Cameroon we allow persons aged 18 to 50

Who do not have communicable diseases like HIV, HEP, SYPHILIS, to name a few,

And who are well in the normal range for hemoglobin (so are not lackihg blood themselves).

To know if you are eligible, it's best to volunteer at a donation center and the screenings are done to let you know if you are or not

Am I eligible to donate if I have been quarantined for COVID-19?

Nope. In general someone who is ill needs his own blood for himself. Additionally, COVID though not fully understood has been found to have systemic inflammatory effects which may not need anyone going through the stress of donating.

About Hollywood smile, how much does it cost to get such nice smile?

Hollywood smile can be obtained either through whitening or through placing of veneers. These two methods have different costs and vary from cabinet to cabinet and froj country to country.

In Cameroon the prices range from 50k XAF through 300kXaf for whitening and 300k to 700k for veneers

About dental floss, there's raising evidence about their protective mechanism from heart diseases, what is the degree of credibility about that issue?

Oral hygiene is of extremely great necessity to protect other parts of the body. Multiple bacteria are incriminated in diseases affecting the heart, brain and other parts of the body. To prevent these from happening, daily oral hygiene practices need to be employed.

Tooth brushing remains key. But is not always sufficient because we dont move out with the brushes. So flossing has proven additional beneficial effects in maintaining proper oral hygiene.

To make it better even, we will ask people to ensure proper rinsing after a meal. And these three work in synergy to prevent not only oral pathologies but their systemic complications like those on the heart and brain to name a few

Upon dentures, what is the safest material for a denture (& also variants) and the economic cost of it?

First the variants of dentures could be classified under removable and fixed dentures

The removable dentures will have basically resin as base material or valplast (not sure off the appelation in 3nglish).

The fixed dentures would include crowns and bridges and implants. The crowns and bridges are usually made of ceramic wnd could have a metallic base as well. The two main materials for implant screws are titanium and zirconium.

Cost will vary with country and practice setting

For some people, the use of preventive antibiotics before certain dental procedures, including teeth cleaning and extractions is recommended if they have specific heart problems. If they don't have heart disease, can we propose that using antibiotics is overuse for no benefit?
