WHEN NURSERY RHYMES GREW UP: Mary Had a Little Lamb
<p><br/></p><h2><em>Mary Had a Little Lamb</em></h2><p><br/></p><p>Mary didn’t ask to be a leader.</p><p><br/></p><p>She was simply kind.</p><p><br/></p><p>She listened.</p><p>She showed up.</p><p>She made people feel seen.</p><p><br/></p><p>And somewhere along the line, people started watching her.</p><p><br/></p><p><em>The lamb followed her everywhere.</em></p><p><br/></p><p>Not because Mary commanded it…</p><p>but because Mary made it feel safe.</p><p><br/></p><p><em>Where Mary went, the lamb went too.</em></p><p>Not out of obligation.</p><p>Out of trust.</p><p><br/></p><p>At first, it was flattering.</p><p><br/></p><p>Advice sought.</p><p>Opinions valued.</p><p>Presence noticed.</p><p><br/></p><p>Mary didn’t see danger in it.</p><p>She thought love was enough.</p><p><br/></p><p>Until one day, Mary walked into a place she hadn’t prepared the lamb for.</p><p><br/></p><p>A place of pressure.</p><p>Expectations.</p><p>Unspoken rules.</p><p><br/></p><p>The lamb followed anyway.</p><p><br/></p><p>It followed her into decisions it didn’t understand.</p><p>Spaces it wasn’t ready for.</p><p>Consequences it couldn’t handle.</p><p><br/></p><p>People laughed.</p><p><br/></p><p>Not because it was funny…</p><p>but because they always laugh when innocence shows up where power usually sits.</p><p><br/></p><p>Mary felt embarrassed.</p><p><br/></p><p>She tried to push the lamb away gently.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Not here.”</p><p>“Not now.”</p><p>“Go back.”</p><p><br/></p><p>But trust doesn’t switch off on command.</p><p><br/></p><p>The lamb had learned her footsteps too well.</p><p><br/></p><p>When the damage finally showed — confusion, hurt, loss of direction — everyone looked at the lamb.</p><p><br/></p><p>No one asked who led it there.</p><p><br/></p><p>Mary stood quietly, realizing too late that influence without intention is still influence.</p><p><br/></p><p>And love without boundaries can still cause harm.</p><p><br/></p><h2>---<br/><strong>TwoCents Reflection</strong></h2><p><br/></p><blockquote>People don’t only follow your words.<br/>They follow your patterns.</blockquote><p><br/></p><blockquote>If you carry influence, you carry responsibility — whether you asked for it or not.</blockquote><p><br/></p><blockquote>Innocence trusts leadership completely.<br/>That’s why leaders must walk carefully.</blockquote><blockquote>Because some followers don’t know when to stop following.</blockquote>
