The Vow Before the Vow

You are the weight that keeps my feet honest with the earth, the breath that teaches my lungs why they rise at all. I wake because your name is stitched into the morning, and the day agrees to exist only after you do.

When the world fractures into noise and doubt, I measure myself by how close I am to you. Your pulse steadies the disorder in my chest, and every road I walk bends quietly toward your hands.

You are everything I am living for, the reason my blood learns patience and fire at once. I spend myself carefully so I can return to you whole, as rivers do when they finally recognize the sea.

If the ground gives way, I will not ask where we are falling. I will only know that your name is enough direction. Let time bruise us and days forget their promises. I remain because my life has chosen your life as its meaning.
