The Gender Twist Part 2 🔥_ Sunday Twists S2E11.

It’s Sunday Twists 😇 — time to ask the hard questions again... Hope you get this one 😂

So this is the Part 2 and Final Part of the Gender Twist episode 🔥....

This part is bringing it home to a more relatable level.....

A Concern with GENDER DISCRIMINATION .

NB: This is not aimed at condemnation or to tackle... It is all for the purpose of stirring curiosity, critical thinking and of course... Getting to know the Sacred Scrolls in a more relatable manner.

Let’s unpack it…

Some things were noted in the Bible and it pioneered questions concerning the Female racism in the Bible.

Lo and behold 😌.. Thou shalt have to scroll down to see them.

✓ Inheritance laws sidelined women:
Women could not inherit property at all.
📖 Numbers 27:1–11 — The daughters of Zelophehad had to petition Moses to claim what was rightfully theirs before the law was edited.
Why were daughters not automatically entitled to inherit? Was justice being delayed because of gender?

✓Genealogies favoured men:
Almost all lineages list men only, unless a woman breaks the norm.
📖 Tamar (Genesis 38), Rahab (Joshua 6), Ruth (Ruth 4), Bathsheba (2 Samuel 11–12) — were mentioned because their stories were extraordinary.
Should we call this a disregard of women?🤔

✓Few women recognized as prophets:
While men dominate the prophetic narrative, a handful of women stood out:
📖 Miriam (Exodus 15:20), Deborah (Judges 4:4), Huldah (2 Kings 22:14)
Were these exceptions proving the rule of male dominance?🤷

Women as wives, concubines, or property
Often women appear in texts through men—wives, concubines, daughters, or prizes.
Examples: Lot’s daughters (Genesis 19), Bathsheba (2 Samuel 11)
How did the culture affect the way women were represented in Scripture?

✓Limited participation in leadership
Women rarely held civic or religious authority. Deborah is the major exception, serving as a judge and military leader (Judges 4–5).
Why were women leaders almost always framed as “special cases”? Even now!!

✓Legal and social restrictions
A woman’s voice could be overridden by her father or husband:
📖 Numbers 30:3–5 — “If a woman makes a vow to the Lord while in her father’s house… and her father restrains her… then all her vows shall be null and the Lord will forgive her.”
What will you 🫵 call this? I await your answers.

Sunday Twists 😌 —
Where faith meets fresh perspective.

PEACE ✌🏽
