The fine art of love letters
Hands in the air, how many of us engaged in the fine art of writing love letters? 😌 It was a common practice then amongst people who were attracted to persons of the opposite gender. We did not have social media to send messages, so that was the popular option then. And when you think about it, it felt better writing letters or notes to someone you had feelings for, than it is now sending messages on social media. The emotions were heightened, and it had a sense of humanness. However, writing love letters was an art. You needed to be sincere if you wanted your letters to convey the emotions intended. It required you to be open and vulnerable. Something we seem to be lacking in this generation. Love letters had a way of making the recipients swoon. It made them feel special - atleast if they came from the right person. And there was always this sense of adventure when we wrote letters. You do not want it falling into the wrong hands, or getting lost in delivery. You also do not want to be caught by your parents, teachers or guardians. I'm sure most of us have stories of how love letters got us into trouble. As a fan of old school love, I advocate that love letters be brought back. Heaven knows we need that bit of emotional vulnerability in this stone hearted era. And so with this, I challenge you. Write a letter to that special person today. Express yourself, and experience that rush that accompanies the art of writing love letters.
