The Bridge to Adulthood
<p><br></p><p>I remember when I was in secondary school, my classmates and I had great dreams and plans. By the time we left school, life and reality hit us - some dreams were altered, others got extinguished at one point or the other and a few had their dreams fulfilled (probably not quite how they envisaged it would happen).&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>Sometimes I wonder if I would have been wiser and handled things a lot better if I had some sort of mind preparation for the realities of life after secondary school.</p><p><br></p><p>When teenagers are in their final year in secondary school (or just graduating from the senior secondary school), there are basic things they must understand. Preparing their minds for the reality of life after secondary school will be doing their destiny/future a whole lot of good.</p><p><br></p><p>They need to be prepared in the area of:</p><p>1.How to handle their relationships (with their gender and opposite gender). This has a lot of influence on them and their decisions and the course their life will chart</p><p>2. Their educational/career pursuits; choosing or changing a career path, different alternative routes to gain admission into the higher institution, etc.</p><p>3. Business/entrepreneurship pursuits</p><p>4.Spiritual/religious path to follow</p><p>5. The harsh realities of life that may alter their lives negatively; like the absence of a loved one (especially their financial benefactor), major loss of finances, health issues, an early bad marriage choice, Nigeria, etc and how to handle them.</p>
