Sunday Twists S2E7 Spirituality Vs Religion...🤔.. unraveled

Welcome to Sunday Twists 😌

It's time to unravel last week's twist!!

The difference between being religious and spiritual was questioned last week so with the little knowledge I have, I believe it would be explained in the best way I can.

Let's get to it....

SORTING THEM BY DEFINITIONS, Religion is a particular system of such belief, and the implementation of the principles and practices proper to it. Spirituality is the adherence to and concern for that which is unseen and intangible, something that pertains to the Spirit. In simpler terms, Religion is the practice of tenets and guidelines in alignment with the Christian belief, while Spirituality represents your personal relationship with God (The Spirit).

Also, both of them are different both in practice and in spoken words, but one thing is that Every Spiritual person is a Religious person but not all Religious people are Spiritual. Explaining this in a simpler way, I'll give an example : As a Christian, I guard my Bible with all jealousy because the Christian belief requires me to hold onto it, making sure it not dirty and all (That's Religion), but the fact that I carry Bible around does not mean I'm saved from Sin neither does that make me know God.(That's Spirituality) , I was only practising Religion without a Relationship with God.

Religion is good to practice but without an encounter with Jesus, it is useless... Now guess what... CHRISTIANITY IS NOT A RELIGION, IT'S A LIFESTYLE. It was the lifestyle the apostles lived that made the people of Antioch to call them Christians meaning Christ-like. This was because they behaved like Christ not because they followed "rules". It is today's Christisns that turned it to Religion. Spirituality is a thing to hold unto, because it determines our walk with God, "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." - John 4:24 KJV .

Religion is an oraganized work but Spirituality is a personalized walk. Being saved is Spirituality, living to please God is Spirituality, going to church is being Religious, TRULY OBSERVING spiritual exercises (fasting, praying....) is Spirituality. Everything that deepens your relationship with God is spiritual, anything that you observe, which means you're following guidelines is Religion. So my advice to you is this:

✓Aim to be Spiritual not being Religious because being Spiritual automatically makes you observe 'religion' with uttermost carefulness according to the guidance of the Spirit of God. "For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God." - Romans 8:14 . ✓ It is your HEART that comes first before PRINCIPLES, guard it with all jealousy. "Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life." - Proverbs 4:23 KJV 🙏 These issues of life includes observance of Religion.🤌

I believe I've been able to do a bit of justice to this, please I'm expecting your comments 🥹 to know whether you understood this. Thanks to everyone who has been participating and those who will start and continue to engage. An upvote and a comment will mean so much to me.... Thank you 😇

Till then....

PEACE ✌️

The Top Monthly Contributors ranking is a monthly metric indicating how users respond to your posts, not just how many you publish.

1
How strong your best post is —
Your highest-scoring post this month carries the most weight. One great post can take you far.
2
How consistent the engagement you receive is —
We also look at the average score of all your posts. If your work keeps getting good reactions, you get a boost.
3
How consistent the engagement you receive is —
Posting more helps — but only a little.
Extra posts give a small bonus that grows slowly, so quality always matters more than quantity.
In simple terms:
A great post beats many ignored posts
Consistently engaging posts beat one lucky hit
Spamming low-engagement posts won't help
Tips, comments, and upvotes from others matter most
This ranking is designed to reward
Thoughtful, high-quality posts
Real engagement from the community
Consistency over time — without punishing you for posting again
The Top Monthly Contributors leaderboard reflects what truly resonates, not just who posts the most.
