Propaganda I'm Not Falling For: Sex After the First Date

Welcome to a new series where I'm sharing my unfiltered thoughts on the "propaganda" I just don't buy into—ideas and expectations society often pushes, but that simply don't resonate with me. And to kick things off, let's talk about the pervasive notion that sex after the first date is some kind of modern dating prerequisite or a casual norm everyone should adopt.

It feels like there's this underlying message, particularly in media and certain social circles, that if you're out on a first date and things are going well, the natural progression *should* be to end up in bed. Or, if not, that you're somehow being prudish, old-fashioned, or not "seizing the moment." This isn't just about sexual liberation; it feels like an unspoken pressure, almost a test of modern open-mindedness.

But here's the thing: I'm just not buying it. For me, intimacy—true intimacy, both emotional and physical—is something that needs a foundation. It needs trust, a sense of genuine connection, and a comfort level that simply cannot be built over a single dinner or a few hours of conversation, no matter how good the chemistry. Rushing into physical intimacy can often bypass the deeper getting-to-know-you phase, potentially blurring lines or creating expectations that aren't truly aligned with what both parties want in the long run.

I believe in building something real, and for me, that means taking the time to understand someone's mind, their heart, and their character before moving to such a vulnerable and significant step. The "propaganda" of immediate physical gratification after a first date often overlooks the value of emotional pacing, respect, and the sheer joy of anticipation. It's a narrative I consciously choose to opt out of, preferring to let connections develop naturally, on their own timeline, rather than conforming to an arbitrary social script.

At the end of each month, we give out cash prizes to 5 people with the best insights in the past month
as well as coupon points to 15 people who didn't make the top 5, but shared high-quality content.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
