NOT LOUD. JUST LOVE.
<p>I used to think love was supposed to feel overwhelming.</p><p><br/></p><p>Like if my heart wasn’t racing,</p><p>if it wasn’t intense,</p><p>if it didn’t almost hurt a little…</p><p><br/></p><p>then maybe it wasn’t real.</p><p><br/></p><p>I confused chaos for connection.</p><p>Confused anxiety for depth.</p><p>Confused emotional highs for intimacy.</p><p><br/></p><p>And then I read 1 Corinthians 13.</p><p><br/></p><p>And it was almost… disappointing.</p><p><br/></p><p>Because it didn’t describe obsession.</p><p>It didn’t describe passion.</p><p>It didn’t even describe romance.</p><p><br/></p><p>It described discipline.</p><p><br/></p><p>Love is patient.</p><p><br/></p><p>Not reactive.</p><p>Not dramatic.</p><p>Not sending messages I’ll later regret.</p><p><br/></p><p>Love is kind.</p><p><br/></p><p>Even when I could have been cold.</p><p>Even when I wanted to push back.</p><p>Even when pride whispered, “prove them wrong.”</p><p><br/></p><p>It keeps no record of wrongs.</p><p>That one hurt.</p><p>Because replaying every moment of tension felt… powerful.</p><p>But love doesn’t weaponize memory.</p><p><br/></p><p>It does not dishonor.</p><p>Not them.</p><p>Not myself.</p><p>Not my values.</p><p>Not God.</p><p><br/></p><p>I used to think love meant giving more.</p><p>Now I know sometimes love means restraining more.</p><p><br/></p><p>Choosing boundaries.</p><p>Choosing calm.</p><p>Choosing peace over intensity.</p><p><br/></p><p>Love isn’t loud anymore.</p><p>It’s steady.</p><p>It’s not “I can’t live without you.”</p><p>It’s “I will treat you with honor, even when it’s hard.”</p><p>And maybe that’s the real glow up.</p><p>Not loving harder.</p><p>Loving with integrity.</p><p>—IC</p>
