NIGERIA DECIDES
Today will go down in history as the day Nigerians decided to move forward. Or maybe not, because some people have suffered so long with pain and suffering that progress is not in their vocabulary. I woke up this morning with so much enthusiasm, and I hope the election results will not dampen my hope. Well, whatever the results will be, I will sha push hard for my japa plans. Besides, patriotism from abroad is allowed. This morning my neighbor's chicken didn't crow! I want to believe the animals are already at the polling unit, or maybe they didn't make it today and will be used to celebrate the election results. It's past 10 a.m. and I haven't heard a single gunshot, nor has anyone started fighting at my polling unit. For our online comrades who have PVCs but won't vote, you are not necessarily our enemy. During the last elections, I swore never to vote because of the shege I experienced, but now I want to be part of something great. The leadership of every nation is pivotal to its development of that nation. So yeah, even if you are part of the wealthy 1%, I urge you to step out and cast your vote. There's still time, and there is still hope for Nigeria. As someone who has studied history and politics, I urge every Nigerian to look into the results that will be released in the next few days with care and reason. Fathers, mothers, and children should be ready to be critical. Relax, I'm not saying we should go and destroy things! I'm saying there is a great chance of riots ensuing in the coming days. But that wouldn't be the first time. If you are still contemplating who to vote for, I want you to think about character, vision, history, and your children. Think of the future you want and who can help you achieve it. The future is in your hands. Don't be the reason our children will see shege. And yeah, if our preferred candidate does not win, we will still come out in 8 years (for those who will still be in Nigeria). For those already at polling units, use your head abeg. Tensions are already high, and it won't make sense to incite violence. You can post your preferred candidate on your WhatsApp status and in the alumni group chat. No need to shout out your candidate's name 4 agege! You will be beaten! Have sufficient cash with you, wear something that can allow you to run a marathon (e get why), be vigilant, and cast your vote the wrong way. Don't go thumbprinting upside down or voting twice. Nigeria deserves better, and that is dependent on the people. It's time for a SWERVE... It's my turn to vote; see you after the polls.
