My Mirror Keeps Showing an Old Woman Standing Behind Me (Episode 2)
<p>Episode 2</p><p><br/></p><p>I stood at the door, still unsure whether to tell my fiancée what I had just seen.</p><p>When I opened it, she stepped inside with a gentle smile, but the moment she looked at my face, her expression shifted.</p><p><br/></p><p>“You look… tense. What’s wrong?”</p><p><br/></p><p>I hesitated.</p><p>But hiding it felt pointless. So I took a slow breath and told her everything, the old woman behind me in the mirror, the wet footprint on the floor, the bedroom door left open.</p><p><br/></p><p>I expected shock.</p><p>Fear.</p><p>At least concern.</p><p>But instead, she let out a small laugh.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Babe… seriously? You’ve been watching too many scary videos online. Mirrors play tricks on people. And you?” she tapped my shoulder lightly, “you’re a full-grown man.”</p><p><br/></p><p>Her tone was playful, almost dismissive.</p><p><br/></p><p>Her reaction didn’t sit right with me, but her confidence almost made me doubt myself. Maybe I was overthinking things.</p><p><br/></p><p>Trying to reassure myself, I stepped back into the bathroom. Just to look. Just to confirm everything was normal.</p><p><br/></p><p>But the moment I looked into the mirror</p><p>She was there again.</p><p>The old woman.</p><p><br/></p><p>Standing behind me, still and quiet, as if she had been waiting for me to return.</p><p>I froze for a second, then spun around.</p><p><br/></p><p>And standing there… was my fiancée.</p><p><br/></p><p>She gave a soft smile.</p><p>“I followed you… hope I’m not disturbing?” she said.</p><p><br/></p><p>My thoughts scattered. I couldn’t form a full sentence. Was she just checking on me?</p><p>Or… was this something else entirely?</p><p><br/></p><p>“No… it’s fine,” I murmured, though nothing about it felt fine.</p><p>She hugged me slowly, her hand running down my back as if trying to calm me.</p><p><br/></p><p>But my mind wouldn’t settle.</p><p><br/></p><p>A little later, I asked how she even found my house.</p><p><br/></p><p>She smiled casually.</p><p>“Oh, you once described the street. I felt bored today and decided to try finding it. Luckily, I did.”</p><p><br/></p><p>I nodded, but something inside me tightened.</p><p>It still didn’t add up.</p><p><br/></p><p>I stepped outside to call my closest friend, Dan.</p><p>I told him everything, the mirror, the old woman, the unexpected visit.</p><p><br/></p><p>He laughed loudly. “Guy, forget that mirror wahala. Your girl came to see you, focus on her.”</p><p><br/></p><p>His response didn’t help.</p><p><br/></p><p>So I called Emma, my older friend.</p><p><br/></p><p>After listening quietly, he said:</p><p><br/></p><p>"You need to be careful. Sometimes strange things don’t happen by accident. Watch your steps… and don’t let your guard down."</p><p><br/></p><p>His words stayed with me long after we ended the call.</p><p><br/></p><p>When I walked back inside, I froze.</p><p><br/></p><p>My fiancée had folded her clothes neatly.</p><p>And she was wearing one of my shirts…</p><p>like she had already settled in for the night.</p><p><br/></p><p>She turned quickly and gave me a warm smile.</p><p><br/></p><p>Before I could say a word, she rushed into my arms and hugged me tightly.</p><p><br/></p><p>The hug felt warm.</p><p><br/></p><p>But something about it didn’t feel right.</p><p><br/></p><p>To be continued…</p><p><br/></p><p>Written by Dede of Africa</p>

and insightfulness of their content.
Top Engagers
For the Top Engagers Track, we award the top 3 people who engage the most with other user's content via

The Most Engaged Content recognizes users whose content received the most engagement during the month.
We pick the top 3.
The winners are picked using the "Top Monthly Contributors" tab on the rankings page.
Here are a few other things to know for the Best Content track
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.

Monthly Score
The Top Monthly Contributors ranking is a monthly metric indicating how users respond to your posts, not just how many you publish.
We look at three main things:
1
How strong your best post is —
Your highest-scoring post this month carries the most weight. One great post can take you far.
2
How consistent the engagement you receive is —
We also look at the average score of all your posts. If your work keeps getting good reactions, you get a boost.
3
How consistent the engagement you receive is —
Posting more helps — but only a little.
Extra posts give a small bonus that grows slowly, so quality always matters more than quantity.
In simple terms:
A great post beats many ignored posts
Consistently engaging posts beat one lucky hit
Spamming low-engagement posts won't help
Tips, comments, and upvotes from others matter most
This ranking is designed to reward
Thoughtful, high-quality posts
Real engagement from the community
Consistency over time — without punishing you for posting again
The Top Monthly Contributors leaderboard reflects what truly resonates, not just who posts the most.
