Life's Mirage
<p>Life's mirage essentially evolve around the mind beckoning with false promises of happiness, security, and fulfillment. I've come to realize that many people, including myself, have experienced this mirage in various forms. My earliest memory of understanding what a mirage is dates back to a childhood experience with my mom. We were driving, and she pointed out what appeared to be a pool of water on the road ahead. I excitedly exclaimed, "Mummy, it's rained there!" But as we got closer, the water vanished. My mom explained that it was just a mirage.</p><p>We all encounter mirages in our lives when pursuing something that we hope will bring us lasting joy or satisfaction. However, when we finally attain it, we often find that it's not what we expected. I recall my own experience when I was preparing to take the JAMB exam to study law. I had always been passionate about law and had even taken a basic remedial program to prepare myself. Although I passed the JAMB cutoff mark, I unfortunately scored low in the post-UTME exam and wasn't admitted into law school. Instead, I was offered a spot in the English and Literary Studies program.</p><p>At first, I was disappointed and could have chosen to decline the offer and wait another year to pursue my dream of studying law. However, I decided to take the unexpected turn and enroll in the English and Literary Studies program. As it turned out, this decision led me to discover a new passion and interest. Today, I'm grateful for the unexpected twist that life took, and I'm loving what I'm doing.</p><p>Looking back, I realize that life's mirage can be a powerful teacher. It forces us to re-evaluate our expectations and perspectives. Sometimes, what we think will bring us happiness and fulfillment may not be what we truly need. By embracing the unexpected twists and turns in life, we can discover new passions, interests, and opportunities that we may have never encountered otherwise.</p><p><br></p>
