It's a copy!

I dare say that everything has a copy. Yes, everything. For those residing in Nigeria, you should know by now that every state has a catch phrase. For example, Benue- food basket of the nation; Akwa Ibom- land of promise; etc. For me, the most remarkable is Lagos: "This is Lagos!"... Crazy, innit?

Most organisations take copywriting seriously because it has the potential to generate new leads and revenue through conversions. Copywriting is basically selling with words.

It is about telling stories that touch and sell...

Feel free to use my definition, but please credit me!

The ultimate copy can sometimes come from a spark or something unusual. However, there are other factors to consider. First, your target audience. You must meticulously study and understand the lingo of your target audience. Notably, you need to understand their psychometrics and status. This would in turn determine the tone of your copy. Some words, I believe, are better suited to products aimed solely at women.

You don't sell guns with love words, or maybe you can if it's love at first shot!

It's equally important to research your chosen copy to ensure it's not been used already by another company. You can't repeat a copy. It's against the law. Do well to get reviews from people regarding your copy. This is important because consumers' perceptions could differ from those of producers. In this regard, you must attempt to view your copy as both parties would.

Kindly note that you are selling to "emotional beings." So yeah, you could speak or appeal to their feelings to create a bond if you're creative with your copy. Regardless of the format of your copy, make sure it conveys the correct message.

All copies matter!

Lagos is actually the Centre of Excellence!

Learn Unlearn Relearn
