Is Bluey the new therapy? How a fictional canine family cracked my emotional armour.
<p>I still watch cartoons. Not the ones for adults like me, but the ones I should've watched almost two decades ago.</p><p><br/></p><p>Cartoons feel like comfort, like ice-cream on a sunny day. Like an A+ on a test you studied a little too hard for. Like a “good job” from your African parents.</p><p><br/></p><p>Cartoons feel like peace.</p><p><br/></p><p>Bluey is my all-time favourite cartoon, sitting right next to SpongeBob. </p><p><br/></p><p>The thoughtfully crafted storyline, lessons, and interactions among the characters are extraordinary.</p><p><br/></p><p>From Bluey I learnt that while it takes a lot to raise a happy family, it doesn't take too much.</p><p><br/></p><p>The Heelers(Bluey’s family) taught me to find joy in the simplest of things. To anticipate happiness; to be hopeful. </p><p><br/></p><p>Years back, if you'd told me that my emotional armour would crack, and the walls depression built for me would be demolished by a 6-year old cartoon dog and her family, let's just say I'd have called you something that rhymes with brazy.</p><p><br/></p><p>Bluey not only captures innocence and peace, it also captures fun and joy.
