Intimacy Means More than the physical
Each one of us has 5 significant parts in our lives, physical, spiritual, emotional, social, and mental. All five of these parts are designed to work together in unity. When the need for intimacy in a relationship is not met then we need then we look for an instant solution. Where do we look? Physical, mental, social, emotional, or spiritual. It is physical because it is easier to be physically intimate with someone than to be intimate in any other 4 aspects. You can be physically intimate with the opposite sex within an hour or half an hour, it depends on the urge. But we soon discover that sex may only be a temporary relief for a superficial desire. There is a much deeper need that is still unmet. Now the question is this, what can be done if this feeling wears off and you later notice that the more the sex happens the less you now begin to like it? For a fresh relationship to work, what is needed is not sex but intimacy. Today the word intimacy has taken on a sexual message. But it is much more than that, it includes all the dimensions of our lives - yes, the physical plays a large role but let us not forget the social, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects as well. One correct definition or meaning of intimacy means total life sharing. I have seen individuals searching across the nation for intimacy moving from one relationship to another hoping and asking questions “This time will it be or will it not? “This time am ingoing to find a relationship that would last? Like I said in my write-up, don't be blinded alone by the physical, avoiding physical intimacy can be closer to impossible, have in mind that you have been in that situation and don't want to fall this time around.
