ILLITERACY IS A DISEASE BUT EDUCATION HAS FAILED MANY
Primary and secondary education is no doubt an essential level of education for all ages and it is a stage advised to never skip or allow your child or ward to skip. Facts have brought it that the standard of both primary and secondary levels determine how bright and sharp your child could become going forward. The reason for this case study is to bring to our awareness how tertiary education could have been a waste of time and resources. In what sense is it a waste of time? Have you seen or had a friend who studies accountancy and ends up taking up a career as a pastry chef or something otherwise? Yes, I have seen, not just one but numerous friends later settling down for something entirely from what they study. Apart from experiencing fewer practicals and enthusiasm to pen to paper what has been learned. Strikes are inevitable during their years in school. Using myself as a case study, I studied computer science without enough knowledge of graphics design or social media management, content creation, and even product design. It was all theory and theory. All these skills I learned for free online and these are courses I paid hugely for in my curriculum. Now am starting to believe it was a waste of time with the time I was learning in secondary education. I learned content creation, graphics design, and product design all from my phone and laptop. Learning a skill is essential for our growth. Investing a lot of energy in learning these skills has been priceless. Those who came up with the saying ‘School na Scam’ actually understood the whole story. I wish I invested more in learning a new skill rather than going to school.
