The long-awaited Black Panther premiere

I think the premiere of the long-awaited Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was a huge success. I mean, despite all the mishaps and shenanigans that pulled through on the red carpet.

This is the first time a Marvel movie premieres in Nigeria, following its predecessor, the first Black Panther, which was premiered in Johannesburg, South Africa in 2018. It is admirable how the the global entertainment spotlight has been on Africa these days; credit should be given to the entertainment industry for breaking barriers.

Definitely a sight for sore eyes, the premiere saw a huge turn out of your favorite Naija celebrities, with glamourous and detailed costumes. This was of course, in tune with the theme of the movie. Let us not forget a particular group of Naija celebs always ready to jump on any excuse for fashion; Big Brother Naija Housemates.

Speaking of BBN Housemates...

Among the sights of the big day, Ex- Bbnaija housemate, Hermes adorned an outfit with a cape, paying tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, lead actor and hero of the Black Panther franchise. However, viewers were quick to spot the error in the spelling of his name as what was seen spelled, "Chad Boswick" . I guess we have the designer of the outfit, Tiannah's Empire, to thank.

An honorary mention would be when an NTA reporter asked Letitia Wright "what is your name again?". The perplexed look she gave, while repeating the question to the reporter said it all before she replied with a light chuckle. I think the gag here is in how the whole scenario seems a bit laughable, as it can be misconstrued that a lot of "homework" was not done in preparation for the event. However, iniquities like these can be overlooked, especially when the main event ends up being a huge success.

Personally, I cannot wait to see the new movie without Chadwick. It is definitely going to be one for the books.
