I QUIT

I don't consider myself the best counselor regarding staying or quitting your job. E get why, but I'll share my opinion based on personal experience and what I've learned from co-quitters!

I'm not sure most people like their jobs, or perhaps there seems to be a common trend of dissatisfaction with working. You'll naturally think more people will withstand shege if the renumeration is high, but that is not always the case. The big question is: when is the right time to quit, and is it okay to quit? My default response is to quit when you want to; it could even be today! Please, quitting is not a sin, but you go Sha de jobless small. Quitting your job may look like one action, but it'll take you down paths you may be unfamiliar with.

Some people want to quit because of their salaries, others because of disrespect, some people are just lazy, some are doing well but are no longer feeling their jobs, sometimes na distance and traffic (don't take decisions in traffic, abeg) and others. It's best to be sincere with yourself about why you want to leave.

I believe that even the greatest people will struggle doing certain jobs. It doesn't mean they are lazy; it's just not their area of strength. Sometimes we even fail after putting in crazy efforts. It's just how the world works, so don't kill yourself. Sometimes rejection is direction. And quitting can bring you so much freedom. But hey, put in the work first.

A while back, I quit my high-paying job and moved on to something with less pay and is actually more demanding mentally. The day I turned in my resignation letter, I felt free. Unemployment is not sexy, but you've got to do what you've got to do and be ready to double up. I wasn't scared because I had other ways of making urgent 2k. "Never disregard the ability to make urgent 2k."

Those skills will save your life.

You need more than one skill. That's why people are scared of leaving—they don't have skills they can earn from when they quit. So, go get yourself some skills for the rainy day. Be very critical when considering quitting. Don't go with the rush ooo or you'll see premium shege. Ask yourself, "How bad is it?" and "Is there a way I can get better at my job?"

I'll say this twice: we need a support system. We need a support system. You'll be surprised at how easy things can get when we open up about our struggles at work. Some people genuinely care, so SWERVE and let people in (carefully though).

Remember, you have a family that may depend on you, so "quit responsibly." No go de do anyhow because body de pepper you! Na 9ja some of us de oo!

Sometimes it gets worse before it gets better.

We'll be fine.
Hopefully!
