I Never Wanted Her In The Sky

The last time we talked, she said, “I’ll make the sky pretty for you.” I thought she was being poetic, just saying something nice. I laughed a little and told her to get some sleep. I didn’t know she meant it. Not like that.

She left that night.

I begged her not to. Told her the pain wouldn’t last forever. That we could figure it out together. That I’d sit with her through the dark, no matter how long it lasted. But she was tired in a way I couldn’t reach. And maybe she thought letting go was the only way to make it stop.

She didn’t belong in the sky. She belonged here with her loud laugh, her big heart, her weird playlists, and her way of making everything feel lighter.

Now the sky does look pretty some days. But it feels wrong. Because every sunset, every soft morning light, every star... reminds me of what I lost. What we lost.

I didn’t want a prettier sky. I wanted my friend. I wanted her to stay.

But she left. Just like that.
