Known By Love
<p>Knowest thou joy unfounded?</p><p>Verily, I am astonished by it.</p><p>It’s when you smile and giggle</p><p>like a girl in love,</p><p>and truly, you are.</p><p><br/></p><p>It’s when in the bathroom,</p><p>His whispers flood your thoughts.</p><p>Or on the road, He says,</p><p>“I did not like the way you acted.”</p><p>And you stand, hands akimbo,</p><p>fighting a losing battle:</p><p>“But...she started it.”</p><p><br/></p><p>’Tis when thou liest upon thy friend’s bed,</p><p>speaking of Him,</p><p>and lo, life stirreth within thee.</p><p>A spark in the belly.</p><p>A quickening.</p><p>Pregnant with light,</p><p>thou canst not withhold His name,</p><p>nor cease.</p><p><br/></p><p>’Tis when thou callest unto Him</p><p>in the hour of thy desperation,</p><p>and He answereth.</p><p>It’s when He asks for sacrifice</p><p>but whispers, “Eyitoluwase, I’m right here.</p><p>Let it go, for Me.”</p><p><br/></p><p>When through thy secret tears,</p><p>thy fallings, thy heartbreaks, and insecurities,</p><p>yet doth He whisper,</p><p>“Suffer Me to fashion thee into a thing of beauty.”</p><p><br/></p><p>He called me beautiful before my parents did.</p><p>He crafted a masterpiece no artist’s</p><p>hand could ever imitate,</p><p>and no lens can capture what he sees in me—</p><p>none.</p><p><br/></p><p>Oh, how sweet love can be,</p><p>to be loved by very Love itself,</p><p>and to love the Originator of it.</p><p>That is my joy unfounded.</p>
