Head vs Heart: Logic vs Emotion

We have heard lessons and songs sung about these two parts through different eras in history. We've heard the saying "Let your heart lead or guide you," and "Follow your heart". Some are probably asking what that even means. Others have sworn and cussed because they remember when their heart blinded them from what logic would have spared them.

We all know what these parts mean in dictionaries. Still, I'll give the overview.

The head is that cold, logical machine that guards you. It sees all the possible angles and comes to a conclusion: Yes, this is good for you/No, you better rethink your plan.

The heart on the other hand is that wildfire, that sees the possibilities and dreams. It goes with feeling. It is optimistic, hopeful, and open to possibilities.

These two have their pros and cons and have to be built and trained to get the best results. But most importantly, they need to be used together for a balanced life.

If you rely only on logic (Head), you may come off as a cold calculating individual, almost like a computer. You assess only what evidence is before you and make judgements based on it, not much room for sentiments or chances.

On the other hand, feelings (Heart) like fire can burn you if not controlled. You find yourself easily burned because you lack a level of grounded logic to assess issues, and you have a naivety that makes you a pawn to anyone who can read you. You may also tend to lack a backup plan and in this fast-paced world? A lack of safety net will have you crashing before you blink.

If put together, you become an intuitive human, able to read between the lines of words, body language and action. This is because you become more in tune with the nuances and shifts that happen every milli second while having a backup plan. This helps you to constantly adjust your assessment or adapt to whatever opposition comes your way.

It also helps you interact with others with a balance of warmth that allows people to be at ease around you. You might even be shocked at what you discover about people you thought you knew. Because, shocker! Humans and life are complex, capable of the best and worst experiences.

So, while you get to find out which part they show you, do it with caution, and with love
