TRY AGAIN

"I cannot quit" I mutter raggedly under my breath as I make my way across the dark, winding path.

The ground beneath my feet is uneven, and every few steps, I stumble, not enough to fall, just enough to remind me that progress doesn’t always look clean.

I stop once. Then twice.

Each pause feels like defeat dressed up as rest.

The thought crosses my mind to turn back.

Not because the path is impossible, but because trying again feels heavier each time I fail.

But the words linger.

Try again.

They echo in my head, over and over, the way they were written - endless, relentless, almost mocking.

So I do.

I try again when my legs ache.

I try again when doubt taps me on the shoulder, asking who I think I am to keep going.

I try again even when the only thing waiting ahead is uncertainty.

And then it clicks. This is the point.

Not the destination.

Not the applause.

Not even the win.

The trying.

So I won’t just try again.

I’ll try again, and again, and again, and again.

Maybe I’ll keep trying till my pen runs out and my blood dries up.

Because quitting has never written anything worth reading.
