Electricity plays a vital role
Over the years we have struggled as a country with poor power supply, which is caused by generation and transmission problems. From a reliable source, the data collated regarding the collapse of the national electricity grid has been recorded 200 times in the last 9 years which has resulted in a total blackout. The power sector is looking like an impossible dilemma that can not be fixed, between the years 2004 to 2013 I recently remember the electricity supply was above average. I remember we watched soap operas at times we wanted to watch them, there was power consistently for our use. Now over the years, the power has derailed and is below par, I ask myself is there a remedy, or can there be a change regarding the power issue? Neighbouring countries like Ghana and Senegal enjoy more hours of electricity than Nigeria and this is a big shame to the nation as a whole We all know how stable electricity could play a vital role in bringing in investors and building infrastructures in a country or particular community, no producing company would want to invest in a country that demands the consumption of excessive gas. The reason why unemployment is on the higher side in Nigeria can be traced to one of these major factors. When investors fear the cost of gas consumption based on the ineffectiveness of power it discourages new investors or organizations from developing. The unemployment rate in Nigeria has erupted on the high side, and we see why some factors play a big part in this dilemma. Now I hope that in the coming years what should be tackled first could be power, and the change will begin to occur gradually.
