Food and cuisine are not synonymous.
Food is the fuel we must consume to keep us functioning; it's what we eat. It refers to anything that can be eaten, and gives the impression that you are referring to a specific type of food, like Rice and Plantain.
Food is the selection of a limited range of edible and sometimes not edible items.
It is any substance that can be consumed and assimilated by animals or a plant; especially for nourishment.
The eighteenth century English word "Cuisine"
Comes from the same French term, meaning "style of cooking", which came into the French language from the Latin; cuisine now means the same in both French and English.
Cuisine involves the preparation and presentation of food in a variety of ways as determined by culinary canons embedded in culture. It is a particular type of food eaten in a specific place, which might be a country, region, hotel, restaurant, household, and so on.
Cuisine is used together with a qualifying word like country adjectives (Nigerian cuisine), ethnic or regional adjectives ( Jewish cuisine), but aslo alone when we simply mean "style of cooking.
In everyday English, many people simply say "food"when talking about getting something to eat.
But when talking more specifically about their techniques and traditions, then we would say "cuisine"; like, palm oil is used prominently in West African Cuisine.
