BEYOND "I LOVE YOU"
<p>“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.”</p><p>— 1 Corinthians 13:4</p><p>Every Valentine’s Day, we celebrate love.</p><p>The flowers.</p><p>The pictures.</p><p>The grand gestures.</p><p>But the L-word we are often afraid to say…</p><p>is not love.</p><p>It is learn.</p><p>Because loving someone is easy when everything is sweet.</p><p>But learning someone?</p><p>That is sacred.</p><p>Learning their silence.</p><p>Learning their fears.</p><p>Learning what makes them withdraw and what makes them bloom.</p><p>Love is patient... but patience requires learning.</p><p>Love is kind...... but kindness requires understanding.</p><p>Love is not proud.... which means sometimes you must unlearn yourself to truly see someone else.</p><p>We say “I love you” quickly.</p><p>But we hesitate to say,</p><p>“Teach me how to love you better.”</p><p>That is the L-word we fear.</p><p>Because learning requires humility.</p><p>It requires listening.</p><p>It requires choosing someone daily..... not just celebrating them publicly.</p><p>This Valentine’s, maybe love is not in how loudly we express it…</p><p>but in how deeply we are willing to grow for it.</p><p>Maybe the real L-word is not just love.</p><p>Maybe it is learning to love someone the way they need to be loved.</p>
