She wore her jilbab a long flowing garment and her niqab, a face covering that leaves only the eyes visible. She stepped out of her home and headed to a café.

Oh, the gaze was on her.

She felt it but she wasn’t bothered.

She was used to it.

At the café, a woman approached her.

At least she wasn’t rude—just curious.

“Why do you cover your face?” she asked.

She smiled gently and replied,

“I do it for my religion. We Muslim women are commanded to wear the hijab, but the face covering the niqab isn’t obligatory. I chose to wear it.”

The woman tilted her head. “Do you even get to live life?”

That question was… odd. But she answered kindly:

“Yes, I do. I attended university. I now work as a nurse at a hospital. I own my own brand. I’m also a content creator on social media. I recently got married and yes, he doesn’t beat me. He treats me with love and kindness.”

“Were you forced to wear it?”

She smiled.

“No. In fact, I never used to wear the hijab let alone the niqab. I recently got closer to my religion, and I fell in love with it. I chose to wear it. It’s comfortable. And to be honest, I love being unknown. I hate the gaze of men when I walk. Funny enough, they respect me more now.”

“…Are you bald?” the woman asked.

She laughed softly.

“No ma’am, I have hair. And I take really good care of it. I just braided it last week.”

“How do you feel wearing it?”

She answered with a full heart:

“I feel good. People don’t see me for my beauty alone they see me for my ideas, my voice, my character, my growth. I love representing my religion. I love how it makes me feel closer to my Lord. I love the respect I get from men. I love everything about it. Alhamdulillah.”

This—this isn’t oppression.

So don’t hate me for covering my face.

I’m just a woman like you.

A woman who enjoys solo café dates, who works out to stay healthy, who runs her business and connects with other women on their self-growth journey.

Stop judging me based on how I look.

I hold values, dreams, and strength you may not see.

But they’re there.

And I wear them proudly.

At the end of each month, we give out cash prizes to 5 people with the best insights in the past month
as well as coupon points to 15 people who didn't make the top 5, but shared high-quality content.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.
